Thanks for inviting me, David: I'm most interested, for several reasons.

I start with wanting a favor:

Dr. Osei Darkwa is Principal of Ghana Telecom University College in Accra, Ghana. See:

www. gtuc.edu.gh

He also heads large village development project in Pariensa, Ghana. See:

www.patriensa.com

I and my partner are involved in both ventures, and appear on the web sites: when you're looking for beauty you can find our pictures.

Osei needs to know about the availability of OU courses; about this site; and about your work.

Will you write to him:

odarkwa@yahoo.com

I'm drseskow@cox.net

Will you write to Osei?

Thanks.

I KNOW, Rodrigo... I should never have let IBM design that HAL computer to run Windows since I knew we were in for some trouble when it came up with a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death)! Glad to know that someone ties that Stanley Kubrick movie to me. The choice of the name, "David Bowman" as the last surviving astronaut is interesting. At least In "2001: A Space Odyssey" I came back to disable the "wayward beast" before the monolith sent me back. You will be pleased to know that after US$1 Billion of investment by IBM, HAL now runs Linux and never EVER crashes any more! LOL

Hiya
Sounds like a brilliant initiative! As part of my life outside the OU we run a smallholding and produce goats cheese and homespun wool as well as part of the local farming community so right with field to plate as well!

Profile Information

Which country are you from?
Canada
Are you involved in education?
Yes
About Me:
I was born in the UK and emigrated to Canada in 1974. Am a wireless and fibre optic communications consultant originally focused on Airlines and Banks having worked for IBM and ITTin Europe. Am currently developing online rural adult video education courseware, a curriculum similar to that showing on http://engineeringtv.com/ but ABCDEFG is a virtual collaborative company helping Celtic cattle producers export their beef direct to Europe with no middlemen. This is known as a field to plate initiative.

Acting as the architect of the technology behind CBO to us this implies using Edubuntu / Kubuntu rather than M$ Windows. We are actively using low end hardware and moving everyone to accept the $100 a month costs of true broadband rather than remain on dial-up. Firefox 2.0 and the magnificent AllPeers Navigator extension are used as an encrypted secure communications environment with Skype 3.1 acting as a global audio and videoconferencing application. Having access to content via Ning here and with the wealth of OU material already finished would make many of our farmers very much better equipped to learn more about Europe online and bridge the digital divide that exists not mentioning the vast cultural differences between Canadian farmers and the consumers in the EU-27. This is especially relevant now that the EU is celebrating its 51st year since the Treaty of Rome was signed in March 1957!
